The World Final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest ICPC, the Olympiad in Programming, will be held in Bangladesh from November 6 to 11. The Department of Information and Communication Technology is leading the implementation of the 45th ICPC Summit. Academic host is University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh and co-organizer is Bangladesh Computer Council. However, the main organizer is the ICPC Foundation, the global host of the program, as usual, on behalf of Baylor University, Texas, USA. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this at a press conference held at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Auditorium of ICT Tower in Agargaon on Tuesday. Although Japan, the European Union and the United States need 2 million programmers in the next five years, but they are not in a convenient position with the average age of the people there, the government is already taking various initiatives to take advantage of that opportunity, the state minister said. He said, "You will be happy to know that coding has been made compulsory in government primary since this year." Through this, when today's 20 million primary students will learn coding, problems will be solved through programming, then implementation of knowledge based innovative Bangladesh of 2041 will no longer be a dream. Speaking at the press conference, Palak said, "We are now in a position to benefit from the population dividend." Before the ceremony I was talking to Boucher, now the most valuable asset is the brain. Because, 50 years ago, the countries that were in possession of mineral resources considered themselves as rich countries. But today the richest people in the world like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates do not own any real estate company. All of them have become trillionaires with untouchable real estate like intellectual property. Highlighting the Prime Minister's 'Combined Innovation' policy to reach the milestone of rapid development, he said, "I think by participating in such international collegiate programming competitions we will find the necessary innovative solutions." The future Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos will emerge from the millions of participants on this platform. The next step of the Uber model during Corona is that with the innovative solution like 'Doctor Pool', hundreds of billionaires will come out of Bangladesh, he hoped. Palak also called on journalists, lawyers and politicians to participate in the coding journey. ICT Department Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Dr. Abdul Mannan, Vice Chancellor of Asia Pacific University Gr. Kamrul Ahsan, ICPC Foundation Chairman Prof. Dr. William Bill Poucher, ICPC Joint Executive Director Professor Dr. Jeff Jonah was present at the press conference. Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Enamul Kabir gave details about ICPC Dhaka. Speaking on the occasion, NM Zeaul Alam PAA, Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology said, “Digital Bangladesh means progress of the country. It is our goal to build a just society through this progress and to ensure equitable distribution of resources and services. "Our country can only grow if we can transcend the knowledge we have acquired and create more opportunities for future generations," he said. He further added that we have taken nationwide initiatives to provide proper training and technical education to the youth, students and children of the country. The ICPC Foundation President Dr. Bill Poucher spoke about the importance of technology in everyday life. "ICPC is a technology competition for universities to equip our next generation," he said. He is hopeful that the ICPC World Final will be held in Bangladesh very successfully. Professor Kamrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, the academic host of the 45th ICPC Summit, said that ICPC is one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious programming competitions in the world. Since its inception, the competition has become a game-changer competitive educational program. It enhances the performance of the world's problem-solving generation in computing science and engineering. It is indeed a great honor for the University of Asia Pacific to be able to stand by such an event.
